Privacy Policy

1. Who operates the app

Nexus Backgammon is operated by Detectium Oy ("Detectium", "we", "us", or "our"). This policy applies to the Nexus Backgammon Android app and the backgammon service at backgammon.detectium.io.

2. Information we collect

Account and profile information

When you register, we collect your username, password, age, selected gender, and country. Passwords are stored as cryptographic hashes rather than readable passwords. The service also keeps your virtual token balance, Elo rating, wins, losses, games played, and account creation date.

Gameplay and communications

We process match state, moves, results, timing, scoring, and technical game events so games can run, reconnect, settle scores, and prevent abuse. Text chat messages are held in limited server memory for recent lobby or match history and are cleared as rooms expire or the service restarts.

Microphone and live voice

Voice is optional. If you enable it and grant microphone permission, microphone audio is transmitted live to the other participant or participants in your game room. Detectium does not record or store the audio itself. We may log limited technical voice information, such as whether voice was enabled and packet or byte counts, to operate and troubleshoot the feature.

Device and connection information

Our servers and infrastructure providers may process routine connection data, such as IP address, timestamps, request details, and error or security logs. The app stores your sign-in token and basic profile locally on your device so you can remain signed in.

3. How we use information

• Create and authenticate player accounts.
• Run online and computer matches, voice, chat, scoring, and reconnection.
• Maintain virtual balances, rankings, match records, and leaderboards.
• Show country-level player activity without precise coordinates.
• Protect players, enforce rules, prevent abuse, and diagnose failures.
• Respond to privacy, support, and account-deletion requests.

4. What other players can see or hear

Other players may see your username, public game status, game results, rating, win/loss record, leaderboard position, and messages you send. Country activity is shown only at country level and is not tied to a username on the map. Players in a voice room can hear audio you transmit while voice is enabled.

5. Sharing and service providers

We do not sell personal information. We disclose information only to the players needed for a feature, to vendors that provide hosting, delivery, security, or technical operations on our behalf, when required by law, or when necessary to protect users and the service. Providers may process data only for those purposes and under their own applicable privacy and security obligations.

6. Retention

Account and scoring records are generally kept while your account remains active. Recent chat is temporary and live voice audio is not retained. Operational and security logs are kept only as long as reasonably necessary for reliability, security, dispute handling, and legal obligations. Deleted information may remain briefly in protected backups until those backups are replaced through the normal backup cycle.

7. Access, correction, and account deletion

You may ask to access, correct, or delete your account and associated personal information. For deletion, include your exact player username. We may ask you to verify control of the account before completing the request. Information that must be retained for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or dispute purposes may be kept only for that limited purpose and de-identified where appropriate.

8. Security

We use HTTPS in transit, hashed passwords, access controls, and operational safeguards designed to protect information. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so use a unique password and keep your sign-in details private.

9. Adults only

Nexus Backgammon is intended for people aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a person under 18 has created an account.

10. Changes and contact
